Neck Regions and Bones

  • Neck Regions and Bones: The sternocleidomastoid divides each side of the neck into anterior and posterior triangles. This relationship is an important landmark for clinical anatomy.
  • A neck triangle is an anatomical region whose borders help clinicians organize the many nerves, vessels, muscles, glands, and airway structures packed into the neck.
  • Neck Regions and Bones: The posterior triangle is bounded by sternocleidomastoid, trapezius, and the clavicle. It contains the accessory nerve, cutaneous branches of the cervical plexus, trunks of the brachial plexus, transverse cervical and suprascapular vessels, and lymph nodes.
