Perineum
- Perineum: The perineum is the diamond-shaped region inferior to the pelvic diaphragm. A line between the ischial tuberosities divides it into the urogenital triangle anteriorly and anal triangle posteriorly. This relationship is an important landmark for clinical anatomy.
- The pelvic diaphragm is the muscle floor of the pelvis, the ischial tuberosities are the sitting bones, the urogenital triangle contains urinary and external genital structures, and the anal triangle contains the anal canal and ischioanal fossae.
